BRITISH CURLING SEEKS MEDIA DIRECTOR

British Curling (BC) is seeking applications for the voluntary post of Director (Media).

This director’s role will have specific responsibility for areas of communication, media and PR.  In addition to communications internal to BC, the following external activities are a key component of the Director’s remit:
Responsibilities will include:

  • Draft and release of appropriate BC information to Members and relevant organisations (e.g. BOA, BPA, UK Sport)
  • Liaise with and communicate BC activities to relevant print, visual and electronic media
  • Engage in the development of a public relations, fundraising and marketing strategy designed to maximise external corporate and media opportunities for BC

BC is the UK Sport-recognised national representative body for Olympic and Paralympic competitive Curling. The primary mission of BC is to select, support and prepare Britain’s leading international Curling athletes in their aspirations for competitive success at the Winter Olympic and Paralympic games.For a detailed job description and person specification please contact:

RECORD ENTRY FOR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

The LE GRUYÈRE EUROPEAN CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP will be held in the town of Füssen, Germany from 1st to 8th December 2007.

A record number of nations have entered; a total of 56 teams made up from 33 men’s and 23 women’s teams from a total of 35 nations will participate.

Men’s teams from Iceland and Ukraine will take part for the first time.

ENTRY OPENS FOR ECA SENIORS AND MIXED DOUBLES

Entries have opened for the first ECA Championships of 2007-08. The Mixed Doubles will be played at Kelso Ice Rink on the weekend of the 13th and 14th October and the Seniors at Greenacres on the weekend of the 9th to 11th November.

Entries are invited from all ECA members who are eligible  - the eligibility rules can be found here -  ECA Eligibility Rules

Note that the entry fee for the Seniors is £60 per team and for the Mixed Doubles is £30 per team (note that some entry forms sourced elsewhere may have an incorrect Entry Fee quoted) - this is non - returnable if the team withdraws from the competition, but is used as part payment for your ice money at the competition and to pay for prizes.

COMPETITIONS NEWSLETTER NUMBER 1, 2007-08

Further to the previous post regarding entries to the ECA Seniors and Mixed Doubles, the ECA Inter Club Championship will also be held at Kelso Ice Rink on 13th and 14th October.

4 clubs (Preston, Glendale, London and SECC) will be invited to enter two rinks each and each rink will have three games - one against each of the other clubs.

Competition will be decided on (in order) aggregate points / ends / shots.

Times of session to be confirmed but expected to start in early afternoon Saturday and to finish early afternoon Sunday, but depend on the times required for the Mixed Doubles to be held the same weekend.

The victorious club will be invited to send a rink to represent the ECA at the RCCC Province Championship at Greenacres  (16th - 18th November).

Club secretaries should confirm with the Competitions Convenor by 31st August that they will be able to enter two teams.
